民国时期,随着世界文学在中国的翻译与传播,中国出现了若干各具特色的世界文学作品选本。陈旭轮的《世界文学类选》(1935)、郑振铎的《世界文库》(12卷,1936)在其中最具代表性。由于编选者世界文学观念的差异,两种"世界文学选本"表现出不尽相同的编纂思路和风貌,但同样折射出近代化的世界文学观念。经由这些世界文学选本的弘扬,世界文学不仅仅作为一个抽象的概念而存在,更是具体化为一批具有自身内在逻辑联系和整体性的,可供选择和阅读的实际文本。这种对世界文学的理解方式此后深刻地影响了我们今天对世界文学的认知和想象。

In the Republic China era, with the translation and communication of world literature in China, there were several types of world literature anthologies, World Literature Selections by Xulun Chen and World Literature Liberay by Zhenduo Zheng were typical works, because of the different concepts between the editors, two kinds of World Literature Anthologies reflect different thoughts of compiling, but the both also reflect the concepts on modern literature. Experienced communication of these anthologies, world literature not only as the abstract concept but also be a real text for choosing and reading. This kind of comprehensive ways influence our cognitive way and imagination on world literature.
